Sometimes when it’s Dark

Sometimes when it’s dark,
I pretend someone’s there.
Even that can be hard
With such chill in the air.
And the angels may hark,
Still only Silence sings…
As it creeps through the yard
Unto my broken wings.

I thought that I could fly,
Maybe dreamt—I used to!
Sometimes when it’s dark,
I pretend I still do.
But day comes on the sly,
Hangs my hopes on a thread.
Now angels only hark
To remind me I’m dead.

Sunlight, just like disease,
Well it dissolves my soul.
And still no restitution
Will ever pay this toll.
Why even try to appease
The puppet master’s hand
When the only solution
Is the cry of the damned?

A hollowness to shadows,
A stillness to the breeze
That only finds its mark,
When I fall to my knees.
‘Reach for a wilted rose,
From some long ago day.
When light didn’t seem so dark,
And there still seemed a way.

Yup. Get up off your knees, especially reaching for a wilted rose . . . Need that vibrant rose to caress. I know, you are just writing dark. Eh . . . Still your rhyming poetry works just as well when you are tied to life instead of death.

Alright you two, posted something excessively squishy today just for you.  Now let a guy bleed a lil, won't ya?  Forever's a long time, Tanya, but I'm up for it.

Gee that was hardly dark at all by your standards. It had a good glossing of gloom is all. You rhyme with an amazing ease. ~L

Lol Lori, just reread it and it seemed pretty darn bleak to me.  I guess I my standards were set pretty low weren't they?  Doing what I can to change that.
