Seeing it All

Alone and quiet, set stock-still,
His hands before him spread;
Premonitions of good or ill
Driving him from his bed…

He calls upon his one true friend,
Asoar on the night sky.
There in the dark, the one true blend,
He takes the raven’s eyes.

He sees some huddled in the night,
With their forsaken need;
Believing themselves out of sight,
When equal to the deed.

He sees some behind their locked doors,
Safe in their house of stone;
Yet knows each thing a soul outpours,
Believing it’s alone.

He sees Emptiness driving men
Mad with necessity,
And the hidden twist to a pen
Most think none else will see.

It’s there, upon the night’s impale,
The raven finds his mark—
Meshes close ‘the murky avail
Of whispers in the dark.

The words been said, echoes resound
A rattle in the head.
The raven free, no longer bound,
The human’s will is bled.

Set stock-still, as the raven flies,
Mind held, ever in thrall;
Nothing now stirs behind those eyes
That came to see it all.

I love the feel of this, Michael...

You reach out and shake somber (ever so softly)...then free it back on its merry 'lil way. Sighs could spill easily into silence like this, when eyes see too much.

good to know she made it home, your muse is still deep and shiny, man!

Being able to assert oneself and having that one special friend to help him accomplish it is a wondrous thing. Especially when he can "see" things with the raven's eyes his nightmares become clearer. Until at last the raven takes to flight leaving him there, alone, having seen it all, now stock still and emptier still. Magnificent poetry, man.
