Feather and Stone

Thick-stoned skin, an albatross
Sinking hard, to weigh the cost
On ounces tinged in heaps of pain
I sink, I sink in waves...

On ship alone, through wave of sigh,
With glance cast to an ageless sky…
An angel falls into my view,
Wings been clipped and heart run through.

Gargoyle eyes, brush me light
Drag my edge from fired-sky
Lap up pain on ell of rock
In mouth, a key, to melt the lock

Beauty enough to whet the eye
Of stone impulse, within me I
Observe the wounds, near feel the pains
Of the heart before me in chains.

By maiden's jewel, she'd been poured
To lick of wounds, so many stored
Timid now, scarred eyes meet his
And wrap around an ashen wish

Forever held within the stare,
(Angel and gargoyle souls laid bare);
I pull from mouth the unused key
I’ve held for all eternity.

Grasping soft, of graveled paw
Wingless flutter, life unthaws
Keeping close to prince of stone
Heart offers up the lock to home

The wonder of love never felt,
Slowly brings stone heart to melt;
Steely rock and Feather's wing
Merge the sky, no space between

Wild bit of collaborating here. I brought up the fact to Devina, that you two would compliment each other if you were to work together on a poem. Glad she took my advice.

Thank you, Jer.  Quite insightful of you.  The poem just sort of formed itself as it flowed out from us, we had no predetermined idea of what we were actually writing about.

Tanya, thank you too.  you made this seem effortless.  We read each other well me thinks.

There! I've said it, just don't rub it in...
Seriously, I enjoyed the meshing, same wave-length and all...we should have called it: in an hour or less. or off the cuff? Gs Hugs man!

When two talents of your caliber create together, the power of the words doubles and even a heart of stone melts ...

Simply excellent, dear devina and dear Michael!
