Wrote this in a hurry thinking the power would be off soon . . .

pitch-black dark
no, it isn’t midnight
it is 9:55 a.m.
but it is as dark as midnight
thunderstorms, massive, severe
thunderstorms are up on us
brilliant, almost scary lighting
and ground shaking
tremendous thunder unnerving Zoe
is also unnerving me
as far as that goes
poor Zoe
goes to the door and barks
at what she knows not
then turns
looks at me as if I can stop
this, natures ugliness
waiting for power to put us
into total darkness
after every line I save this
little poem
man oh man, the rain is assaulting up
with biblical proportions
Zoe has given up
ran into the bathroom
cowering in a corner
animals! they are the best weather
prognosticator

We don't get much in the thunderstorm dept. here where I live, but I visited a friend in McComb Mississippi once and oh man, that was an experience I will never forget.  I was young and stupid enough to love it... so I don't know if I should feel some sympathy for you and Zoe, or some envy.

Hah! Thanks for that tongue-in-cheek debs on Climate Change, Goldenrose. I appreciate you took the time to check my poem out.

Hey! Michael, we had bad thunderstorms where I grew up in Arkansas, and yes, Mississippi gets some also. This one today was really a ground moving storm. Huge limbs were ripped off of trees I noticed when I walked Zoe this afternoon. Even though I have been through many thunderstorms, the really bad ones get to me if it lingers the way this one did today. Thanks for the read a comments . . .
