not talking about everybody just me because I have turned old I do things differently like closing doors with respect thinking I may never open it again in mirrors the image sometimes shows a freckled-faced tow-headed boy practicing his get tough look ah, many other things I do differently but I guess you get the gist of it these days I love to listen to the nightfall and the symphony from within as all the insects and the harrumph of an old bullfrog answered by the hissing sound of an old bull gator filling the swamp with beautiful sounds not far from so called civilization and houses overextended on their credit cards and everything else ©April 5, 2015 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

I don't see a younger self in the mirror, but I know about closing those doors with respect. This is beautiful and bittersweet. |

Closing doors with respect... that was a hard one to learn for me. It came with a sharper perspective about what's really important in life, and recognizing all the damage closing those doors loudly puts everyone within hearing distance through, yourself included. I feel ya. Michael |

You flat-out got it about the closing doors, Michael. Yep, took me some wasted time to understand that closing those door with respect really means, and you aced the meaning big time. ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

This isn't being big-headed, but truth - I've always "closed doors with respect" (I love that phase, wish I'd thought of it). It was one of many lessons from my Grandmother. Image in the mirror - more times than I'd like. Sure as hell that can't BE me . . . Know exactly what you mean. Unfortunately circumstances took me out of the swamp and put me too close to civilization - when I moved into this place 30 years ago, it was "in the country at least" - now I have to go a ways to find more than concrete and asphalt. I've gone from seeing 60+ species of birds to no more than 15 or so - still hear cicada's mid-summer, but the lightning bugs are totally gone, geese have new flight paths, and so do many of the migratory birds. And still no swamp within 50 miles and more - always ache for that. Makes me sick - and too late to get "out" again, the years are against me. So I envy you your place. Cherish it with all you have. Love this piece - j. |

"in mirrors the image sometimes shows a freckled-faced tow-headed boy" ...loved this set Jerry, just sets your stage! and agree w/others, your door image is awesome, even though I remember how I learned that lesson (swack. O-KAAAY Grama, I AM. grins cuz she was old-school country-amazing) *gently closin' door on exit... ~d Open arms can be the most fragile in the world... |
