Dew-laden Deck
(from Faces of Love)

Coffee? You ask.

Only if you hold it
to my lips,

my insides cry,

Only if you share
my chair
in this mornings' air
while the Mockingbird sings
of mates
and other things.

Only if you kiss me
after every sip,
only until
we drop our cups,
our clothes,

Only until we're oblivious
to everything
but lips and tongues
and other things,

Only
until the Mockingbirds' song
crescendos

And breathlessly
we listen
to the beauty of his song.

Only . . .
Only then,
your coffee I'll share.

!

Not sure if an exclamation point is a proper reply or not, but that's what you're getting from me.  Didn't believe anything in this world could possibly make coffee better.  You proved me wrong.

Michael - Ha!  Life's blood!  Coffee that is . . . world would be a much sadder place without it - especially first thing in the morning!

Thanks for looking in, my friend.

Gee, almost wish I'd switch over from green tea first thing, after reading this delicious thoughtful poem
