you can see the lights
in the uninterrupted rooms
not yet used up for
those there will live their lives much like
everyone else does
quiet lives
which follow the time-honored
next generation
and so on and so on
and we make our stand
in order to stand out
our fifteen minutes as it were
quickly forgotten
there is yet another
time-honored event which
patiently waits
knowing there is nothing
we can do
to avoid embracing death
it is the last train
we will board in this life
darkness will ensue
are we certain about that
never mind
life goes on with the
next generation
like lights in the uninterrupted rooms
never extinguished
passionately consuming
their days
until, of course
they will
like everyone who has lived before
dies
but if you believe as I do
you will live again

I got deeply immersed in the subject of life-after-death back in my 20's, 30's; the bible, Edgar Cacye, Ruth Montgomery and several others were a big part of my studies, as well as a number of other sources, and yes, the Wigi Board was a part of it - voodooism (of course being from New Orleans area, Marie Laveau and the other "priestess' " of the area}.

And now . . . 50 years, give or take, later, don't know any more than I did then. Same answer-less questions about all of it.  Same beliefs too. And all my friends and acquaintances who have gone on without me swearing to get back and let me know the scoop, have, thus far, not come back. And that statement from a believer and seer of ghost in his life...me.

Biggest factor now though, is I'm in no-hurry-to-find-the-answer either!! I just want to live on . . . clueless if necessary,
long as I can!!

Besides, I really "enjoy" this Life.

Enjoyed this piece, too...

"There but for the Grace of God go I". I got lucky this life and all the "bad" stuff that happened to me was poor choices on my part. I may not be so lucky next time. If I can't come back and be a force for good, I'd rather be a tree. ~L

Hah! I hear you loud and clear Jimmy. I, too, still have the same questions in my mind as I did "back then."

Yea, but do we want to live again?
Not on this wretched Earth anyhow
Very sobering pensive and made me ponder

Heh.Heh Glad I could make you ponder, EmmaRose. And yes, I do look forward to my next life on this old world. Maybe things will be different then and the world has been cleaned up and living is . . . groovy!

I especially like the images of the first two lines...a great setting for you piece.

In the blink of an eye, it will all be new for those who believe, accept and follow Him.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
