Fair to middlin' of nowhere

He was a tough one
used to hard people.
Then came me
and my fragile,
bruising like a banana.
Learning light handed
took time.
We banged out
our differences
on an anvil
of hurt and anger.
It took love,
so much love
that we tempered
into tenderness.

This really touched me, Lori. So glad everything turned out the way it did.

simply superb! ... especially the ending line!

That last line belongs in the pantheon of all-time great writing ... as when
John Updike described birds sitting randomly on a wire (like they obviously
often do) as "punctuation for an invisible sentence!" ...

a lot of poets will likely be quite envious of your ending line in particular!

Lori, you could even spin one or more neat "Haikoids" off this write ... somethin' like:

through time
hard love
tempered into
tenderness

or:

through time
hard love
tempered into
tender
magnificence

etc.

I'll just let southern's words speak for me ..."love takes work"!  Indeed! But, in the long run . . . worth every iota!

(and I'm not talking about the 9th letter of the Greek Alphabet either.)

enjoyed,

jimmy

It is worth the investment when you have good stock... Wish we would have hooked up sooner but we were both getting hammered in bad relationships. It has been over ten years for us now. ~~~L
