Sunday Girl

I remember years ago
When the road to church
was covered in broken glass
and spilled wine

The quiet sounds of bells
because I was too late
So even though I ran faster
I felt fixed on the concrete

When I opened those doors
I walked into turning heads
and no more open pew seats
So I stood in the back

Later on I learned
That even when I was early
The spot near me was never taken
and I sat on my own

Maybe I'll never learn...

You've done some walking in my shoes, my friend - welcome!

Cool piece...
