Who we were when we met
What we did back then
Every thing we said and promised
Does it still have the same power
Do you still view me with the same desire

Could it be
My feeling of lost and lonely
Can be healed simply
When you say
You love me

Or is it more complicated
Then a show of belated effection
I long for the same understanding
The same unconditional emotion
Once porclaimed from you to myself

Thinking now I realize something
You still mean the world to me
Would you if you dont mind
Say something so kind
or at least how youre feeling

I dont ask for much
Just a loving word or touch
Bring back that rush
Of butterflies
Maybe even the sparkle once held in your eyes

With a loving kiss
A snuggle close
Just to feel your arms around me
My head on your chest
That's always the best

So what is it you wish to say
Or want to see
Just say what ever it might be
Im listening
This poem has said it all and true
Just from me
To you

It is almost impossible to maintain that excitement of the first few years of love. Too many variables, or life, bills, jobs, etc., any number of things which cause us to lose that spontaneous, energetic feeling. Most of the time it isn't that we don't love each other, it is just that life gets in the way. Those are my thoughts . . .

I agree with Jerry but in the intervening years after the heated first few I think many forget what brought them together, forget to work to keep it "somewhat" that way, and don't know how to nurture the essence of togetherness - but relationships are wonky-beast anyway and it takes most of us several tries before we "learn" there's more to them than fire and spontaneity.

If, in the end, it was fun learning, though,
who the heck cares!!

enjoyed,

The guys have a point...up to a point. It takes some specific directions from their Lady Fair to keep them emotionally in step.
If a simple cuddle and having your man giving you a bit of the attention he gives the TV once in a while makes a world of difference TO YOU.  You have to sweetly say so and then proceed to unromantically break it down in to the when where and how directions he can follow. If he chooses not to that is a completely different conversation.
I like the flow of your poem and the natural language. The only suggestion I have for your poem is that I noticed some problems with spelling. I am not a good speller so I am amazed I even noticed. Good write!

yes spelling tends to slip away when i'm in the flow of thought. Also thank you very much for all the feed back.
To clarify, its not so much that I think he doesn't love me. It's more I miss some of the little stuff. Our son is almost three so we dont get much time for that lol. Plus he isn't good with talking about his emotions. I was just telling him the simple ways to express himself.

Never let the romance die, that's the secret, complacency doesn't build anything that remains loyal or solid.  Nicely done.
