Fair to middlin' of nowhere

The evening was warm
and the front porch was beckoning.
Still wearing her winter clutter,
she welcomed us to sit
and imagine her in summer.
The serene of the evening
reminiscent of the rescuing cool
of her afternoons.
Plants wait patiently inside
for cold nights to pass
so that they might come sit
upon her railings.
Hanging pots sit in idle anticipation
of what they will hold for her this season.
I envisioned her in greens and reds
accentuating her white clematis.
Soon the wash tub at the bottom of her steps
will be ablaze with bright yellow irises.
Next the sweetheart red roses will come
and the lavender butterfly bush.
Like an apron spread before her,
the rock garden’s floral print becomes her.
We sit contented with our visions
as the moon rises.

Although you wrote this in third person, I feel like you have just described your very own place in paradise. The rock garden gave you away.

Last night was the first evening of the season to sit on the porch. Looking forward to moving the plants outside and getting things ready. I don't know about paradise, but it is my comfy corner of the planet! ~L

I'll take a front porch over a back deck, any day of the week. If I was your neighbor, I could wave

It's wonderful to "feel" that little something in the air, letting you know it's time for change... to come out from hibernation.  Enjoyed this.

Rex, if you were my neighbor you would have to wave from across the street. Actually, it'd be nice if you were my neighbor, the one I got now is a real nut job! ~L
