Precious Memories

In the Kahala Mall
I watched a young woman
with a much older woman
(possibly her mother)
walking by me, holding hands
at the pace of the older one.
I thought to myself:
how sweet,
perhaps thirty years earlier
the roles would have been
reversed and a much younger
mother would be walking her
young daughter in the mall.
Thinking of this scene reminds
me of my sons many years ago
when I would walk my three
small boys through other malls
and today this father with three
grown sons yearns to take
walks in the mall with
his three grown sons.

This was my mother and me. Such a lovely picture that you shared, James.  It is magic.
