the day is dark and overcast
gloomy is the word
I sit here contemplating what to do
the volume on the radio
is turned down low
soft progressive jazz, eh . . .
do they still call it progressive jazz
they did in my day
Getz and Miles and the rest
for awhile I tried to nap on the sofa
dreams kept waking me up
heard you singing
a song I could never place
when I awoke I realized why
it was rain peppering my window
I’m sitting here now watching
as a ferocious wind is accompanying it
through all the dark and the gloom
I whispered
please sit beside me
and she did
a lovely ghost of her
snuggled close
for I knew she was far away
she couldn’t be here
her breath smelled of a blood-red rose
and she wet my face
with her kisses
and then she just vanished
because she was a ghost after all
the rain keeps falling
but for a little while she was here
spreading her sunshine
as only her beautiful ghost can

I do believe your tender writes are giving your darker writes a run for their money. Hard to compete with this one my friend! ~L

Thank you Lori, I am finding that I enjoy the tender writes. They reach parts of me that has lain dormant far too long.
