Come to Me Amelie

Within her memory
when Amelie was turning 23
she was determined to share
her birthday with a man,
not just any man,
no Amelie was thinking particularly
of the man she met last Sunday
and silly her, she couldn't
forget his smile
nor his eyes
and how his voice sounded so nice
as he helped her to pick up
the bag of apples
she had dropped when she
accidentally on purpose ran into him
hoping for an introduction.
His name was Pierre
and he introduced himself nicely
offering to walk her home
and carrying that big bag of apples,
yikes he was big and strong
and handsome and intelligent
that was why as a year flew by
she found herself loving him.
Pierre was her whole life,
Amelie lived for him,
Pierre in the morning,
Pierre at night,
that is, until he did
something that wasn't very nice.
Pierre moved to Spain,
he left on a midnight train,
headed for Barcelona
where he was determined to
become a sword fighter
or was it a bull fighter.
Why?  We can speculate
but we don't really know.
Sometimes love has to go.
Probably something to do
with a desire for adventure
or the foolishness of youth.
Nevertheless he left Amelie
heartbroken and alone.
Later that summer Amelie moved to Rome,
she needed a change of location
to help her recover
and she hoped to discover
an Italian lover.
In Rome it didn't take her long
to find Romone, sleek and strong.
He saved her from her pain.
He took her to see all the sights.
He liked her like crazy,
his presence was a delight.
Early one morning she was home alone
and she was awakened by the telephone.
It was Pierre saying he was tired of feeling alone.
Amelie knew that feeling because even though
she had met Romone, without Pierre in her
life she felt alone.
"come to me Amelie, Pierre still loves you."

Eh . . . The fickle nature of love, lust and love lost . . .

This brought smiles, dear James, you wrote very efficiently about this situation. And what with Romone now?

Love,
