Until
the perimeter that guards
the cirrus from the sycamore
and the rush of green across the highway
the rain redundant on the grey of
cobblestones

this song of songs will dim
within the straining notes that rose once
from distant thoughts we wished upon

now undecipherable

like jazz to the untrained ear

as this is sadly
just another, much rehearsed for
but often interrupted,
longing for a thunderstorm,
withheld

Although the complete poem is soulfully penned, this line stood out to me . . .
quote:
from distant thoughts we wished upon

looking back at what was and what is, is something we cannot seem to help ourselves from doing, Emma. You do it wonderfully . . .

Like!  It felt sultry like a thunderstorm building.

I think, that quite often, in a quiet moment, our thoughts can drift toward the same old haunts. Even though we often wish we could wash them away and bask in the fresh air of that clean sweep... we seem to find something there, we feel has some worth

What can I say - the words are you, always well placed and expressed.
