the swamp is haunted
in a thousand ways
I sense
their omnipotence presence
I watch from afar
waiting until the right time
to walk into the swamp
this haunting
is not of the malicious kind
no,  not in the least
and I bond
with their presence
willing myself
into their midst and mindset
days like today
I feel their pull the strongest
I mellow within it
its as though I am being summoned
sans words
but by a feeling
a feeling I have never experienced before
there is nothing folderol
about it
a bit frightening however
its as though
I am being forgiven
for not understanding nature’s way
all my life
making me feel uncomfortable
I feel I am connecting to
a fresh but as yet to come new person
I have lost what fear I had
I stand here
understanding, but knowing
whatever it is
causing this strong feeling
this is only the first
meeting of feel
I sense I have much to learn
all I have to do
keep my mind ever ready
as I await another lesson to absorb
I almost feel holy
that is not the word I search for
tho it will have to suffice
unexpectedly I am back to being
who I was before I was possessed
by nature’s way
I will return
to The Hovel to absorb
what has been given me this stupendous day
I shall, however, come again
to the swamp

always searching for answers i don't think we ever age in the sense that we can never fill always uncertain about something you'd think after all these years we'd get it but we don't never do always searching maybe thats just how it goes.

powerful and interesting 'write!'

... here, the "endless" mountains of 'ol Appalachia are being buried again in snow (some 1st. day of "Spring!")

Much obliged, Redstart for your honest comments, and yes, "searching" is the name of the game.

Bruce, Heh.Heh, I'm sorry to laugh at your sad expressions of the snow-covered "'ol Appalachia." Temperature down here in the swamp is supposed to hit eighty-five today. Hunker down, man, and just wait it out, like you have a choice, right. Right, huh?

"There's no business like 'snow' business," I suppose!

Boiled a sack of crawfish last week end - that and this piece brought back the memories from all the times and days I spent catching my own, a number of them in your area of the "swamp", half of them probably sub-divisions and businesses now.  Caught many under the Huey P. Long, and look at that place now!  Been a Texan for so long now though that webs between my toes have started to atrophy!

Damn!  I really miss the old days!

But wouldn't trade off the "todays" either!

Hah! I understand what you are saying, Jimmy. I hail from Arkansas, but haven't been back for many years. I have bad feelings about things which happened there. Naw, I love living here . . . Alone . . . Just the way I want it. Thanks for the read and comments.

I really like this one, Jer.  Quite mystical in its presentation.  And though you may have ventured forth alone, you definitely aren't that.  The peace oozes off this.
