with books around him
he sits
day in and day out
his mind
concentrating
on that
which he doth read
when he tires
of reading
he doesn’t step outside
to smell the
richness of the earth
nor the flowers
of many scents
no, he picks up his quill
(sits at his keyboard)
and writes
of remembered things and places
and lust
this, then is his life

Oh, I sure wasn't complaining, Lori, just telling it like it is. I rather like the way I am living my life these days. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my little poem.

About what I do also Jerry. Life has given us the choices and what ever it was we chose this is what is left. Now our only choice is to make the best of it. Along the I was mom to six children. It is now down to five but just imagine the needs of some of those five and you will know it can be overwhelming, to an old lady. so I think at this point I would  happily trade places with you. Except I do still get out into the yard and do some dirt digging. That is easy on the mind. Best to you, Jo

i for one don't get out as much as i used to when i was younger... i spend much of my free time wandering through the nature of my own mind.. smelling flowers of thought and gazing at lakes of reflection..

luckily the place that i write at faces a big double window.. my portal to the ocean of life and promises..

well done my friend, i hope your sunday is treating you kind

Thank you very much for your comment, Jo. You have lived a full like with family around you. I missed all that because I suppose the word "rebel" pretty much fit me. Do I wish I had been able to take care of the children, both monetarily and physically, I sired with two of my wives. Damn straight I do. But that is looking back. I can't change what happened back then. All three of my children, two daughters and one son, have "found" me. I am so grateful they did, and all three of them are regularly in contact with me. Eh . . . Got a little long-winded . . .

So you sort of know what I was talking about in my poem, Richy. I appreciate your kind comments.
