~
The pitch o' night her captain feared
her leeward pending doom
November's raging breath
ensnared
to daunting reef she loomed
Her belly shattered
pitched and gorged
as raging swells
reclaim
the drift of break
flies
blizzard cold
~
Come Sail Away
is her name

Ahhh . . . Worked for many years in the Gulf of Mexico on a seismograph boat. Rode out three hurricanes. Rescued men from oil rigs. Been in many a tight spot. Had a hell of a captain, a damn good crew, who knew what they were about. I was the cook. I kept their stomachs full.
