Young Love

I remember
a young impressionable girl
and I was young too
shortly after she had
graduated from high school
she ask me to drive her
one fine evening from
Long Beach to Los Angeles
in the brand new Volkswagen
that her Dad had given her
for a high school graduation gift
so she could pick up a special
floral dress that was only
available in the L.A. May Company.
So that evening we took the drive
and I waited in her car
at the door outside
while she ran inside
to pick up her special dress,
and shortly she returned
wearing the dress
and immediately I was impressed
because it fit her so perfectly, this dress
that her father had bought so lovenly
just to see her happy in that dress,
that beautiful white dress
covered in embroided colorful flowers
that observers would enjoy for hours
and I too was happy
and so glad I made the drive
just to see her in that dress
and to share the excitement
in her eyes.
