my life has turned simple
old sol awakes me so very silently
the voices in my head
have quieted
the need that first cuppa joe
the lights come on hesitantly in my head
shining on the voices sharing space
I laugh aloud
there is joy within my heart
no matter what those voices say
I make my oatmeal and blueberries
sprinkle cinnamon
Add the honey
I retain the joy of my simple life
thwarting those voices
who wish me death
I begin to hum an old tune
humming always calms the voices
my life
from its reckless
pursuit for freedom where there were none
to ultimate danger
and needing to expose myself
to it
knowing I could never experience
such a calm existence
as I now enjoy
eh . . .
again I laugh aloud
no one here to hear it
‘cept Zoe
I step outside with Zoe following
spread my arms wide
facing the north
holding them out in the direction of you
it is another day
a simple day
my love for you steadfast

You are a fortunate man to have mornings like that. Apparently what you are doing is working well for you. ~L

Thank you Lori, I am fortunate in many ways and other wise. My health is maintainable, at least so for.

Love your happy moods keep it up. I have taken the motto "fake it until you make it".Works for me as I hide my woes from family.

Thank you Jo, I am much like you. I don’t let too many people know my inner self and my problems. I hate the “well-wishers,” and the “fool-proof” cures for whatever is ailing me. No. I prefer to suffer in silence, although I will attack the keyboard poetical-wise

Good piece, my friend ... love this in particular ---

"...spread my arms wide
facing the north
holding them out in the direction of you
it is another day
a simple day
my love for you steadfast"

This is really beautiful, dear Jerry. "Simple is Good" I agree. To be aware of the little pleasures in the morning and through the day makes every day a special gift.

Simple is necessary at a certain point, Jerry. Things are simpler for me as well.

that first glimpse of morning before the day unfolds is most precious in the realization of the simplest but very blessed and sometimes
overlooked blessings

Yep, Emma, it's those overlooked blessings that are special. I'm so very grateful I've lived to experience these moments of quiet reflection. I never thought it was possible to experience the wonderful peace I now enjoy.

I enjoyed this one.  Simple can be good, and cheerful is so much better than otherwise.
