(Eh . . . Feeling a bit down when I wrote this one.)

I'm not ungrateful for my life,
Though some will say its not been smart,
I was busy and had three wife's,
Only one of them had my heart.

Its all over and nearly done,
I'll die, there won't be much I'll leave,
I lived through troubles and some fun,
And its doubtful many will grieve.

I wish you would keep in mind the next time you are down, that the inhabitants of the blue pages here are real people. And that you are very real to us. And we will grief for you when you are gone. Just because you are there and we are here doesn't mean we don't care. There may not be many people in the Hovel, but there are a whole slew of them in your computer my friend! ~L

That about 'sums it up' for me too! ...

Too bad (as Christopher Morley put it) "We can't go home again" ...
with one chance to do things differently and better, etc.!

I think regrets and self pity is such an unhealthy state of mind.  Heck I have made so many bad choices in my life and times and learned some hard lessons along the way.   But, when it's all said and done I have more love in my heart than I know what to do with.  I am  mindful to embrace growing older as there are many who never get the chance.  I think there are two kinds of older folks, the debbie downers and those who are truly grateful to wake up every morning and live their life to the fullest in spite of their limitations and setbacks.  Everyone is fighting a hard battle and I would  rather be alone than surround myself with those who wallow.  Life is not perfect but it's a precious gift, and I for one am eternally grateful for every blessing and every curve ball,  beause in the end that is what shaped me and made me the person I am today,  Chin up JP.

Well, that was a great mirror of your state of mind, dear Jerry. I think it happens to many more people than we might suspect to think that once gone there will be no one to miss us. This does not prevent us from being grateful for life itself, we all try to do our best. My personal attitude is mostly "It will be fantastic to move on ... my love will live on in a few hearts but what is more important is to be aware of the fact that LOVE is all there is ...". We can't separate from this life force ... in no place.

Love,
Margherita

ps I am happy to tell you that I got your book on Saturday and I will begin to read it as soon as I finish the one I am reading now.

"Love is the One who masters all things;
I am mastered totally by Love."

Wallow on dear man...everyone has those days..but I know you still have miles to go and books and poems to write and inspire people, before you can say "Lord, you can now dismiss your servant in peace"

Sometimes, excellent poetry comes out of the depths of depression, it is the way it is. It is the same for love and desire.
People do care, especially friends

We all have bad days, Jerry, maybe we are the lucky ones who can write it out.

Writing it out is the key, Ida, you've got that right. Thank you.
