Fair to middlin' of nowhere

A lazy lolling tongue
sliding out the side
of smiling jowls.
Four paws flopping
in the air whilst
squirm scratching
a back in the grass.
A carefree snort-sneeze
into the breeze
on a dog day afternoon.
Then shaking it off
with nose aloft
to catch the daily news.
Head cocked hearing
the Headlines:
Newborn Kittens Mews!

Creatively done, Lori, so much so that I almost hear that "snort-sneeze."

Thanks Jerry,  I can't remember which of the many dogs I have known over my lifetime always sneezed after it'd rolled around on it's back. Apparently I was reminiscing. It has been many years since I have had a house dog. ~L

Oh, how absolutely lovely!  I adore every woofle of it, and although I don't know that I love one part more than another, but I just have to comment on a "dog day afternoon" and "Head cocked hearing the Headlines: Newborn Kitten Mews!"  But then there's the four paws flopping in the air and then the snort-sneeze and the lolling tongue and the smiling jowls, then the shaking it off with nose aloft to catch the daily news!  OK, my favourite part is the whole poem!  Huggles to memories of Duke, whichever one he is epitomizing of all your doggy dogalogs!

I love this so much, your visuals are picture perfect and it's kind of easy, breezy, wet tongue dog slobber good on ya, Lori.  Yay!!!
