I fell in love with a girl with my name,
Since the day she came into my life my world hasn't been the same.
I think of her just about every day.
I miss her like the desert misses the rain
the memories of her fill my mind, without her smile there is a heart full of pain

We started out as friends then my feelings changed,
I wonder did she feel the same.
We had such good times together and those times we kissed it felt like the sun's warm rays
In the sober light of day reality got in the way

I wish there didn't have to be labels like straight, lesbian, bi-sexual or gay
Why can't it be just it just be you follow your heart, isn't that the right way?
Instead there is judgement and other confusion in the way

We were different but yet in some ways the same. Does she think of me now since we had to part ways or is it just me stuck on replay?
The images so crystal yet so fragile I feel they could be blown away

I don't want to forget her, the girl with my name
I pray for her happiness wherever she may stay. She is such a beauty that she doesn't even see, but locked inside she has demons like me.

Sometimes hers come unleashed at times lashing out at people but then there's times her pain was a private need
I keep mine locked so tight so I try and only torture me

Her talent she has many, jewels I hope one day the world will see
Kind of strange that we have the same name but maybe if we listened closer we could of heard what the universe was trying to say.

I didn't understand this, "I wish there didn't have to be labels like straight, lesbian, bi-sexual or gay," but sometimes romance just doesn't work out.

To one who is unhappy.
"The times they are a changing" and better days are coming. What does it really matter? We are all humans, male or female? Only by our anatomy are we different. Our  minds are  more important. It was always so but some just could not understand about differences and made it hard for those who did. Soon there will be no labels, our names will identify us.  Bless you and may you find happiness. Jo Perry

Welcome to Passions in Poetry, dear changingtides81! Your poetic offering is a very nice start. Melancholic no doubt, but those are precious experiences. And I appreciate reading that you wish this girl well. That's the best attitude even if your heart is sad.

Love,
Margherita

Jerrypat2: By the line that you didn't understand I meant I wish that who you fall in love with didn't have to have a "label or title" put on it. I am a female who likes men but fell in love with a girl who was a friend to me. I have had feelings/thoughts of other females as well. It just would be easier if you could you follow your heart without being judged.

Latearrival/Margherita:
Thank you for your kind words and support on my writing and my emotions.
