Few had time for Andrew Moss
He was no star of the gym
A boy once broke his nose and jaw
Because he smiled at him

He had no friends to lend a hand
No schoolboy hero he
Just a gait that said, 'I'm lonely',
And a face that said, 'why me?'

His mother bled her heart for him,
And he just let her die.
For Andy never really knew
The simple reason why.

I liked Andrew Moss,
he was a gentle soul.

Most admired big Scott Talbot
Muscled star of the gym
Once broke a small boy's nose and jaw
Because he smiled at him

Plenty friends our Scotty had
I'm sure you'll catch just why
Strutting Scott, was up for it
Apple of his father's eye

I had no time for Scott Talbot
He was an arrogant bully

I met Scott Talbot yesterday
And this is what he said
'Do you remember that loser, Andrew Moss?
The little poofter's dead.

Hanged himself, last Sunday.'

... that's the 'way of the world' in a nutshell
(certainly an indictment of human nature) ...
Rather 'Darwinian' (survival of the meanest, etc.)

powerfully effective and emotive 'write!'

Very sad...as a teacher, I see those who bully and know that they are the one's who are insecure and with bad self concepts. No excuse though for being a bully!

Many thanks for commenting, Jerry, shdp and nt. This was many moons ago. Bullying has become more psychological in the modern world, but its effect, especially on social network sites, is all too obvious, and sadly can have the same result.

This is very well done, most especially these two lines, "Just a gait that said, 'I'm lonely',
And a face that said, 'why me?'"
I like the way the bully keeps his character all the way through.  That makes the whole thing more real.
