I see my father's way about him
Saving, caring, giving.
Mindful, selfless, always noble
An example of good living
It may be simple, may be small.
And, quite uncomplicated.
But careful planning served him well.
Each move was calculated.
That structure gave my mom her dreams
And raised my sisters well
He encouraged us. Supported us.
Carried us as others fell.
Never any shortcuts
Not a lie, misstep or cheat
The blueprint is so clear to me
Yet, it's one I can't repeat
But I am trying. Trying always.
To be more like that man.
For the sake now of my own dear children.
To do as best I can.

That is all we can do, the best we can.

Glad you joined this group Vinyl Ottoman Jr. Yes, all any of us can is "the best we can".You described my dad and I am so happy to hear from a son who can realize just what it was for your dad and are now trying to follow through. You had a good example set before you as did I.The best we can give our children is love as love encompasses all that you have mentioned plus your time.Welcome, jo

Are you my brother from another mother? Sounds like my dad too. And my mom. They are Ward and June Cleaver. No way, no how can I ever fill their shoes. Welcome, welcome! Lori
