That gypsy knows one step at a time
leads her out from the pit of despair
into the air to breathe, breathe in,
freedom from love’s sad malady.

How long, how long, she asks of no one
before she misses all the weak spots
that send her tumbling head over heels
down to the bottom again?

Time this time is not on her side
and she knows to rush to the top
but still there’s the fear weak spots will appear
in places and times beyond her foresight.

She ferrets somewhere for strength to endure
and for patience to be certain and sure
that where she treads is stable and set
to bear the burden she must dissipate.

There she goes!  She’s made it halfway
and tomorrow, tomorrow, perhaps tomorrow
she’ll finally, finally, emerge unscathed
from a pit that no longer exists!

Last line told the story, Helen. The adventures and misadventures of your gypsy is laced, always laced with despair and hope, two opposites.

Conquer those weak spots, gypsy lady. You try hard enough to deserve success.

Thanks, Jerry and Redstart.  It's a funny thing because I can't "feel" despair.  I tried to feel angry the other day but, nope, no such luck.  They are words and I know what they mean but I can't feel them.  Something's wrong somewhere I guess because I do feel other things quite intensely.

I have no words left for you Honey.I learned as a child that I had to take care of myself. Became so independent that I was able to embroider colorful daisies  around the holes  in my life. Took the love I was given and gave back more. But life is not always fair and it brings with the living a lot of sad. I think I was fortunate that I was too busy most all of these years and only now am I starting to remember the sad that was in the past. Nothing to do about it at this late date, so a book and a cozy seat by a sunny window is about all I need.  Love to you I enjoy your writing.

Strong and powerful writing, Honeybunch!
I'm impressed!

If only it's exactly what she needs.

Thank you RS, Jo and Gale.  I do very much appreciate your comments.  Life is such a funny thing but I guess we're in in for better or for worse and the trick is to just roll with the punches.

That's what I'm trying to do, Helen. Haven't the strength for anything else. Feeling your
view point.

Those pits of despair won't resist for long, if you increase the quantity of love you reserve for yourself, dear Helen. It's important that you put your feelings into words and you are so good at it really! But then every new day asks for your attention with all its new possibilities.

Merry Christmas, dear Helen!

Love and hugs.
