I remember
how she looked at me
the way young children look . . .
with wise
but innocent eyes
she seemed to understand my darkness
wanted me to
let her understand more
I took her hand metaphorically
walked beside her
again symbolically
I smiled

Embracing life as a joyous surprise. Opening up towards another whose eyes have sent an invitation.

Absolutely beautiful, dear Jerry.

Why is it children are born wise
and grow dumb [at times]....

loved that line!

Jerry, the saddest thing is: you could have taken her hand and walked beside her. She didn't need to know.
