Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2014-12-14 10:33 AM

All the old familiar faces
have gathered from far and wide
to celebrate the holiday.
Laughter and conversation
hugs and celebration
are the theme of the night.
Everyone brings a little something
they have made
to add to the feast.
The apple pie moonshine
was a special hit.
The butterscotch dipped bacon
was to die for.
The young bloods stay late
and shut the place down.
The old timers hang in
as long as they can
letting their old ladies
drive them home.
All too soon
the party comes to an end.
For some it will be a year
until we see them again.
Everyone leaves
full of good food
and good cheer.

This sounds so happy and cozy that it becomes poignantly beautiful, dear Lori. Christmas time should indeed be this. The gathering of families and the joy of old and young getting along. Gotta love those ladies driving their men home! Aren't we just as precious as diamonds!

Wonderful, I enjoyed this so much, dear Lori.

Love,

It was a good time! These are old friends of my husband.  It does my heart good to see him walk around the room getting hugs from everybody!

Ahhh . . . The yearly shindig. Good to hear things went well. You brought out all the good cheer with your poem.

Sounds like a good time was had by all, Lori.
I have that recipe for apple pie moonshine, I think I'm going to have to try it now.

A gathering to be respected and treasured, my friend, and you captured it well.  Couple of things I'd liked to have tried myself --- eats and drinks that is...

well written...told
