hah! have trouble naming
the different kinds of flowers
I see in others' yards
oh, you bet my lack of knowledge
is remarkable
in what it is I don't know
and although I am "in the arts"
certain greats
especially some of the greats
confuse me
I understand the
names like Thoreau
but some of those high-minded poets
come to mind and confuse me
eh . . . I do like Poe
guess that says a lot about my own makeup
yes . . .  I have to say
I lean quietly toward the mad (Poe, etc?)
but sometimes I'm unable to
tell them apart
from the "normal" folks

I think that the name is not as important as the thoughts and feeling, seeing the flowers or reading the words, bring you.

Yes, Jerry.. Hard to tell them apart ..and--as an aside--with the cyber age upon us:

so many people
talking to themselves
weird or wired?

hard to tell. . .

Back in the day of the "greats" illiteracy was the rule and poets were few and far between. Just because in an earlier time we were forced to read them in school doesn't mean they were the best that ever lived, they were just outstanding for their time.

Lori, you broke it down completely so even I could understand it. Gotta love it!

There are such great comments here to your thought provoking poetic offering, that for once I will just say that I agree with everybody.

Btw. ... I have the same problem with flowers, but I think they are not offended if I don't remember their name, but they feel how sincere my admiration is. And that works too for some "Greats" out there. Yet while even the tiniest flowers are beautiful, I couldn't say that every poet on earth causes me the emotions I expect.

Got carried away ...

Get carried away like this whenever you feel the urge, Margherita. You sure put a smile on my face, and thank you for doing that.
