losing yourself in a mirror
dreaming of what could have been
if you could get back
on life's stage
and redo everything
would you still be singing
brokenhearted songs
may as well
just continue to dance to whot
brought you here
what's done, my man is done
didn't yo mamma
tell you nothing

Yeah, thank you, Jo, it just wasn't in the cards for me. I'm so glad your life was so wonderful for you. I truly am.

Eh . . . I know Blues, I still do it from time to time, but never with the intensity and guilt I used to have about the past.

Life hands out whatever it has in the cards, my friend, and I had to chuckle at this because, though poignant, it smacks of the joke mirrors play . . . jokes we're silly enough to indulge in.

cool piece,

The best part about you rattling around in your past is it distracts me from mine.

If me talking about my past keeps you from visiting yours, Lori, makes me feel I've done a good job.

I hear ya, my friend.
I lived in one of those mirrors for a long time.
It can be a lonely place because the only one there is the person reflecting.

As always, nice write!

Yeah you're right, JL. I lived in one for too many years (decades), but no longer. I have conquered my dark, but I still write dark here and there, but I no longer let it dominate me. Thank you for being here.

Old age does seem to be haunted by the past
even when we try to push it away and not think about it.

Well, it is "our" past and it is hard not to think about it. I see nothing wrong with going back unless it becomes an obsession. Thank you Ida, for being here.

A good question, Jerry!
I think I wouldn't change anything in my past, although I can't call my life very successful. I still don't understand many things, but I haven't moved to the cemetry yet.

Oh, I have more things to remember than I sometimes need I believe. Still, the memories are what made whatever I am today. Heh.Heh

Once your realize life IS a stage, that need to get back to it seems to dissipate.  But then, my needs have never been anything close to what I have witnessed in others.  Nice contemplation, Jer.

"Still, the memories are what made whatever I am today."
Well said )
I would change it a bit concerning myself:
Still, my actions are what made whatever I am today. That's why I wouldn't deny my past even its bitter part - maybe I know not everything, maybe I know only a little, but if I did another things, who knows, I could miss what I have realized, but it's a valuable knowledge for me.

Ah Michael, your needs are shared by others, never feel that that aren't. It's just that the "others" refuse to put their own hearts out there as do you. I relate pretty much. Thank you for stopping by.
