                One True Compass

Here, along this pristine wilderness edge,
beyond the Winter twilight sorrows,
in the waning hours of the darkest night,
the mind’s eye and spirit-heart turn clear
and reach forever beyond the ruins of our
   lives
into the bright-delicious promise
of each new dawning day and the
ever-radiant hope of the morning star.
Simply walk a path of gentle kindness
all the days of your life with love as
your one true compass and you shall
   always know the way.
