people are frequently
difficult to deal with, absurd and egotistical
give them a smile in any case
people may point fingers at you
charge you as being a fraud with ulterior motives
smile them down
and if you are doing well in life
you'll find you're friends who are not your friends
try to find the friends from the others
if you're an principled man, you'll be taken advantage of
still be principled
what you spend years making your dream happen
a hot shot could wipe it all out
go back to making your dream happen
you're peaceful and happy
they may be resentful
don't let that turn your smile into a frown
give your best always
people resent your staying power
don't let what they think corrode doing your best
ahhh . . .
in the ultimate examination
what, and who you are
is strictly connected to you
and your scruples

So true my friend! I still remember when I was a kid and the first time I heard the word scruples, I thought it was a part of the male anatomy.
