growing old isn't for sissies
they say
for one thing
your body does things without asking
it's hard for you to know
how much
change is taking place
without you wearing your glasses
muscle and vigor disappears
you pass more gas that you used to
your arms, legs, knees
become stubbornly stiff
eh . . . growing old
is forgetting what it was like
when you were young
deep down in your cloistered heart
you can dimly remember
a change of some kind
without feeling
it . . . really feeling it
near the end
a ghost of who you were
someone
who you cannot tell
is speaking into your ear
nothing she says can you hear

Oh my dear friend how well you have described that process which fells us all if we are lucky (?) No, it is not for sissies. But, unfortunately we grow old too. LOL
People tell me I do not LOOK my age. If they only knew how OLD I FEEL!!!  I'd rather look older and feel younger. How about you?

Actually I've been fortunate in the aging process. All that seems to be over, I'm having to take oxygen these days. Nothing wrong with taking oxygen, it is just the "image" thing.

The thing I dislike the most about growing old,
other then the aches and pains, eye-sight, hearing, memory, tendency to be everything you eat, and constantly seeing some old fart in the mirror that isn't you - - - is that,

although it's such a pleasure to greet each new day, most days now are just memories.

enjoyed, my friend.

Couldn't agree any more, Jimmy. Oh, my short term memory is not good, not good at all.

Your thoughts always hit home, even though I'm young of course
