Trick or Treat

Weeks of planning and anticipation
Culminate in parties, haunted houses and costume
Laughter erupting from a Halloween creation
Bags of candy at the ready to consume

Babes and tots in cute little outfits
Bigger kids wear all kinds of things
Wee ones throwing crying fits
Scared and to their mothers cling

Tricksters too old to play this game
Go house to house for something sweet
Wearing costumes oh so lame
One would rather trick them than give a treat

Finally the candy is gone and porch lights go out
The lil’ goblins go home half asleep
They won’t go to bed without a shout
Unless they get candy first then nary a peep

So now it is all done and over for another year
Lil’ monster’s mom and dad smile and give a cheer
