Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Like an angry child
that takes her toys and goes home
She withdrew her playful and affections
She still brought him coffee in bed
but without nuzzling him awake
A dozen other touches throughout the day
didn’t happen anymore
She just couldn’t
She’d been hurt to her core
with his well-chosen words
She’d bled out
and needed a transfusion from him
But he didn’t seem to notice
or miss those little things she did
At least he never said
He was fine without the hugs and kisses
she used to ask for
He said he would have to try to remember
to be more attentive
But when he talked to her
all he told her about
was his list of things to get done
She never makes it on that list
unless there was complaining to do
And he wonders why she cries
while he is waiting
for her to get over it.

Maybe I just have a bad track record or men are just emotionally tone deaf. Guys, here is a good time to defend your gender.

Lori, guys are just a whole different breed.I am sure it is not even personal. My young friend once served a nice breakfast after putting rose petals from the bedroom to the table so he could find his way. He sat down and the first thing he said was "where's the butter".With that I think he had been doused with the whole plate of ham and eggs."They" just do not realize how far a little expression of thank you or some other nice expression would go.  best to you ,JO

Yes, you are right. we were talking about my poem and He said "I tell you every morning when you leave for work 'be careful', I don't want you to hit a deer. I love you, I don't want you getting killed"  And I thought all this time he was saying "don't mess up the car"

Men are different, and I understand not all of them. But I think that each of them can be understood by some woman, if she needs )
As well each woman can be understood by some man, even if women are the most incomprehensible creatures.

I believe all it takes to understand men is communication and "no holds barred" honesty, but thats just me. Enjoyed.

As a person who had all brothers I think I understand how different men think than  women and I believe most men see what women consider romantic and caring to be clingy.  I think most men need to be kept slightly off-guard by a little mystery and letting them do the pursuing. Natures way.
