         Autumn Evenings

When a grand Autumn moon
   comes calling
at the twilight window
mid echoes of a distant bells,
(as candles cry persistent tears)
and all becomes a flickering
hearth-fire shadow realm,
the sharp-edged things of day
   soften into silver-grey,
painted in a gentle moon-lit wash;
and, like one small moorless boat
floating silent on a mirror-lake,
my spirit severs all terrestrial ties
to dance beyond far mountains,
where velvet clouds grow in the
resting place of Deep-Time’s finest
   dreams.

"the sharp-edged things of day
soften into silver-gray." Love this line, Bruce.

Thanks so much to both of you !!

I'm glad a couple of fine folks read my ever-so-humble lil' "poetic scribbles!"

I may not comment all the time but certainly do read.  You weave nature and life together so well and that's nice for one pretty much stuck on this life thing that I try to understand but cannot and do not.

I've written over 1700 of these lil' "poetic scribbles" now and don't even know why ...
perhaps if I get enough of them out of me, I'll escape the tyranny of words ...

As H.D. Thoreau said (modified slightly by me):  "All my 'knowledge'(and experience)
only brings me ever closer to my 'ignorance!'  I don't 'get' this life thing (as you put it) either.

Men claim they 'know' many things
But lo, they have taken wings
All the 'arts' and the 'sciences'
  and myriad appliances ...
The wind that blows
Is far, far more
than any man truly 'knows' !

May I dance along in this enchanted place? So wonderfully said, dear Bruce!
