Absence of Sleep

I would lay there
listening to the outside noises
Zoe would growl every so often
but couldn't sleep
nothing was being said
though my eyes
were wide open there were no eyes
staring back at me
I was alone
in bed
with the quiet of my core
reliving those things
'ere that happened before
memory, memory, memory
keeping my sleep light
through the night

ahhh . . . but these days
I sleep the sleep of the clear conscience
straight through don't ya know
with cheap California burgundy
and my prescribed
medical cocktail
I'm dead to the world
eight hours and more sometimes

Ahhh is right my friend! Your mind keeping you up at night is something we can all relate to at sometime or another. And there is nothing quite like it when you can finally sleep again...

A minor miracle, I would call it, Lori. Sometimes I think I sleep too hard. A few nights ago two shelves on my trim bookcase came loose spilling books everywhere. I never heard a thing. Thanks for being here this morning.

Interesting writing...i think it's great you sleep so deeply...no matter how you go about it. It's at the top of my priorities simply because it effects the quality of my daily life. You brought a knowing smile to my face.

I hope my sleeping situation persists also, Blue. I detect that you have a problem sleeping at times, I hope it will get better for you. Thank you for your input.
