why do we keep trying to analyze
love . . .
billions of words have been
hurled, screamed, written and
all those words
have done nothing whatsoever
to stop the same mistakes from happening
day after day, after day
yeah after year after . . .
virtual "how-to" tomes are waiting
dust-covered on the shelves
to be devoured
and taught page after page
making it impossible
to fall into the same traps
there are real preventive measures
to be taken
to not wind up with a broken heart
over and over again
eh . . .

either that
or operating on the new born child
removing that part of the brain
wherein lies stupid

Oh my dear friend, you can't take away stupid! It is a well known fact we learn more from our mistakes than our successes. So stupid is essential to our success. We all get our hearts broken or break some hearts somewhere along the line.  Such is life. If we were perfect there wouldn't be erasers on pencils.

I love this poem, Jerry )
Really too much talking and analysing.
The more words about love the less love itself (((

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment about too damn much talking. Just do it. Go into it honestly and hope your lover will do the same. Thank you Gale.

Jerry your last answer to Gale was the best.NO need to keep pouring over and over abouot what love is.It is the giving and receiving to each other full Respect and Honor.THat is what   holds high in my mind. Jo

The Door to Love

The door to love, gone past it's prime
Should be closed.
The memories alone should keep that love alive.
End it, before the embers die.

If you should need to leave, or say goodbye
Do not be distraught.
For I have harvested memories so grand,
That they alone will sustain me,

And leave me with smiles and sparkling eyes.
I would never be alone,
For I have memories to call upon.
A gift to me from you.

Thank you for saying my answer to Gale was the best, martyjo. I was momentarily stumped by the last quatrain.

Thank you again for leaving me The Door to Love to read and save. You last stanza brought a smile from me, but the whole poem was exquisite.
