It simmers, the radio blares,
Entangled to warring it seems;
Eyes burning, the “garlic-blear",
While stirring the pot while it steams;

Constantly moving from bottom to top,
Preventing scorch in the soup and pan;
Trying to wish recent events away,
But still, air is streamed with steam.

I am glad it's tomato soup
that I will pressure can today;
Food for coming weeks and days
and good health for those I pray.

Naive to evils, I'd prefer to be,
but garlic burns the eyes;
Man takes arm against another,
more plans of plans devised.

Where will we sit at the table
When finally the soup is served?
-Or-
Will we be in front of flat screen,
Watching cowboys and Indians?

The simmering soup has inspired you to ponder essential topics, such as the future of humanity. You have done a great job here, dear Misc! I think your words will linger within me for quite a while, after all we are all in the same boat. May hope for positive changes never fade!

So good to see you here, dear Poet friend!

Love,
Margherita

Sometimes the simplest actions lead to the greatest ponderings. But hope simmers with the soup... even when tears join the garlic in burning the eyes. Excellent write!!
