the struggle for breath
is no more
the dim light goes out
releasing your soul to other images
you cannot revisit
you are alone
with the spinning sensation
it turns your world
upside down in pitch black surroundings
somehow you grab onto existence
once again
you can hear your own heartbeat
a familiar, comforting sound
soon enough
you are pushed toward the light
swabbed and cleaned
of memories for decades to come
later . . .
as you are primed and ready
you're presented to
smiling faces
faces of old giving way to others, you see
you've different mom's and dad's
nothing so new to you
you've arrived home . . . again

I like the way you have described the "revolving door" of reincarnation. Nicely done!

Thanks Lori, I worked on the ending of the poem, and hopefully made it better.
