with my head held high
let me begin
by introducing myself

I'm the hours you've spent
in complete aloneness
I've always wanted to escape
your solitude

I am your inner voice
the one with all the secrets
that dare not be told

oh, let us not forget
I'm the hunger, the ache
the confusion
within you
I am the man you won't be

I'm the happiness you forbid
the family you shunned
the photograph
that has never been developed
the conversations
you never had
the dreadful experience
you've forgotten about (not)
and the good times which never was

I'm your only confidante
as you sit and stare at nothing
I'm the soft voice within
can you hear?

Sometimes mine is so loud I can't help but hear... but listening is something else entirely. Excellent write!!

Appreciate you being here, suthern, and yeah, I have a tendency to not listen as well as I should.

you reveal yourself in your words
you got chutzpah as they say and I admire this in your work; its great stuff to be so open

There is not a secret that has not been held tightly by someone else in this  world. So many  people holding in  hidden secrets but equally  as many and more hold the very same one. There is no secret that is new. There should be an invisible  wall where people can pin a note carrying the secrets and then be able to let them go. Or write them  down on paper  and then cut them up into many pieces.  Let them go down the drain into the gutter out to wherever.  Once they are let loose the freedom  that comes  leaves space where  fresh air and love will be allowed to come in. No one really wants to hold onto secrets, so let them go and live what time you have in freedom.

I couldn't agree more, Jo. When we think is "our" secret and our secret only is, as you have stated, been held by many. Thanks for your indepth thoughts this morning.
