poets, for the most part
eventually develop a style all their own
it is who they are
a poet, at least a real poet
seeks truthfulness in their words
let them not abuse
their style
we write of lover's sighs
or the latest politicians stupid remarks
we pay truthfulness
in the telling ad nausea of our
trials and tribulation
fortunes gained and lost
we sit back
stare out the window
as we compose words about evil in the world
or how wild we were when young
our Muse keeps us busy
giving us ideas
but we must be able to write
in our own special style
selecting our words and phases carefully
all of the above I stand by
and if you want me to
I'll put it in a song

And I bet you'd come up with a mighty fine song at that! Blues or Zydeco?

No more blues for me these days, Lori, so its gotta be Zydeco. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=qfuv2NMI-aE

Some interesting concepts here.  It's funny, I have never sat down and told myself I was gonna write anything in a specific manner... it's always been more of an impulse reaction to whatever my muse was singing for me.  So there it is, if all I write is rhyming darkness, I blame it on the muse.  Lol

Truthfully, if a poet ain't true to his/her work, what can they expect others to draw fom it?

Yes, we all have our special style, Jerry and that's a good thing.

Thank you, suthern, by your comment I fear you are having a dry spell in terms of writing. It will come back. It always does.
