A storm is coming
Soon the drops will be drumming
On the panes of glass

The night is coming
Lights respond to the dimming,
Falling to the ground
Mingling with the sound
Then stars take to the sky
True darkness is nigh.
A stormy night creeping on
Will it leave at dawn.

Dusk to dawn raining
Not that I’m complaining
I’ll  see them tomorrow
Flowers with moist blossoms  grow
I’ll see them through my window,
Another day and they’re waning.

Leave the blossom alone
Don’t cut or pick for a vase
Let if be bent and blown,
Let it put a smile on a face
Remembering other beauty know.

Gloom

Long reign the flower!  Loved the last verse especially.   I am glad to see you posting again.
The times bring it out, don't they?

I like this very much, Professor - especially the last verse! With no spot of dirt for a garden, I do place flowers in vases... but I greatly prefer enjoying them in a garden. Long may they reign!

Exquisite write, dear Professor Gloom! There is such dignity in withering flowers, when I see them "on their way to oblivion" I express my gratitude for how gracefully they shared their beauty. And no, they will not be forgotten!

Enjoyed.A flower is a flower until it turns to ash. I keep a large bowl where there is a lot of space under a high hutch, to drop fallen or ready to fall petals of many different flowers from the garden and from what was once a gift in a vase.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this matter, Jo
