There we walked to the river
To watch the silt wash away
To watch the world erode
and become dust dancing along

It travels far to its rest
Upon the river bed or less
Faster than the eye to follow
Fleeter than even a young legs run

Perchance it will reach the sea
And glimpse out into the eternity
Or reach its home out on a beach
as sand from cobbles, stones reach

Should it travel the world
For such sights may it see
Oceans planes or ships
Lain dead as ghost can be

May once again it fall touch
And roses springs full and lush
mayhap this is life fulfilled
or happiness for such as thee.

I aint as good as I once was but I'm as good, once, as I ever was. - Toby Keith

An interesting picture to ponder over Mr. Poe.

Facetiously, with no ill intent, your first two lines conjured up experiences such as watching grass grow or paint drying.

Enjoyed the read friend.
