    More Than We Know

Wildflowers grow dim
in the vanishing twilight,
while tree-shadows dance
with the gathering moonbeams.
The Summer wind mingles
  the scents
of jasmine and honeysuckle
from the world of men
around ten thousand corners
of these mountain forests,
as cicada sing their cryptic song
  to the fireflies
beneath an endless cosmic swirl
of ever-circling constellations.
Come ... and learn
to be quiet and gentle.
Drink deep of calm humility,
for every moment here
is far, far more than
you or I shall ever truly
‘know’ … or be.

I think what I like most about your poetry besides the fact that you are a master poet is that it is the poetry of a gentleman, Bruce.

This puts the reader in the mood for superb co-mingling of the rhythm of the poet and the playful tenor of of your thoughts . . .
quote:
as cicada sing their cryptic song
  to the fireflies

Love what you have done here, Bruce.

I was raised with two "primary expectations":

1. To live up to the 'family motto' (roughly translated from the latin): "What man is truly a man that does not make the world better?!"

2. To be a 'gentle man' and a gentleman (a 'class act' at all times) particularly toward all the 'lovely ladies' of this world.

so ... if I am labeled a "gentleman poet," that certainly 'works for me!'
