Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Her hair
was variegated blue
on the edges of black
Deer brown at her roots
Feeling full of the last day of sixteen
Strutting Sturgis proud
in her sexy censored statement
An in your face
for all those who
taunted her and made her
feel ashamed of
what God gave her
She was a proud
Chucky Baby that day
smiling pretty for the snapshots
High on catcalls and whistles
she was far from home…
But a protectively close
two steps away from
parental units
My lady’s secret service

Unlike most girls she is ashamed of looking good, and later smiling, high on catcalls?

No, she was teased and bullied about developing early and being big chested. The other kids made her feel bad about something she had no control over. So strutting her stuff blew all that baggage out of the water. Now she has nothing to left to prove.

I love this lori.Along time ago when Punk was in I saw a young teenaged girl walking on a street in Down Town New Haven near the Yale campus.(Those were the days when New Haven was beautiful). She walked kind of slowly and her head was hanging down.I smiled at her and said,"You really should hold your head high if you want to dress like you are because your demeanor and your style are not matching." I hope she understood I was on her  side. But I had felt a need to tell her to hold her head high and walk the walk. Jo

Not too sure about the context, I guess because I'm a guy. Good looking or not good looking to me does not really matter.  I think attitude is more important.  Early development can certainly cause the less mature to point out the obvious, and yes I was one of those less mature individuals at one time in my youth.

Enjoyed the read!!
