Hard Tinge

I love a soft, soft song;
But I need a hard tinge.
For a life I got wrong,
For time spent on the fringe.
I know I missed my calling,
God, I sold my soul for love.
All those years spent free-falling,
What was I thinking of?

Now I pick up the guitar,
And it feels queer in my hand.
I pick it with just my fingers,
But it sounds, and it feels, bland.
Magic, once there, is missing;
How it used to grasp the soul,
And squeeze till I was bled dry—
Till the darkness took its toll.

With the dreams that I've been chasing
Finally yielding their reward,
The reality I'm facing
Comes as a double-edged sword.
The music I abandoned
Having now abandoned me,
And the love I gave it up for
Surely never meant to be.

Double edged swords, I know them well. I can relate to the emotion behind this one. As always your form is perfection.

When there is still darkness on someone's life the guitar knows it and refuses to cooperate. It will start sounding the way it used to, only if you start being the man you used to be. Yep. I know that you know this, but I just had to say it.

You express so much feeling and emotion...
You write so nice...however sadly.

You made remembers here, Michael...brought back the gilt-edged love my brother had for his music, and the guilt-edged life he found with it...

but I love him still the same.

I hope you find that magic again... for even though I can only play the radio, I know music seduces, entertains, soothes, enlightens... and heals. *S*

Well, they do say that music can be soothing. Michael. Maybe in time it will be.

Change is bound to occur, dear Michael. For one with your immense sensitivity music must be a wonderful companion, even if it conveys sadness. It's a phase, the world is full of melancholic songs, but they all vibrate with a spark of hope. It's the same with your verses. In my belief one can not "get a life wrong", as all of our experiences are necessary to grow in understanding life's facets.

I sometimes wonder when I read your wonderfully written sad poems, what an extraordinary miracle it would be to read you in that moment of inspiration when love and light and joy peak through the dark clouds you hang out on the sky. Sadness is a very intense human emotion and in my opinion it always contains the deep longing for the opposite,

Love,
Margherita
