Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

0 posted 2014-07-16 12:52 PM

I once wrote about whimsical fairies
A magical place grew inside my mind
I created stories of another world
Did I hide behind those innocent times

Sadly, the past few years have made me older
I cast off my poems and my imagination
Only  to write words on list after list
Seeking strength to  face difficult situations

Once again, I breathe with more ease
Taking time to play with words and try to write
Still a bit unsure how my growth will show
As my imagination blossoms in the night

Alison

Oh, Alison!  What you said in The Key - except from me, now.  Memories of what is in the first stanza.  Tears for the second one.  Certainty, confirmation and support for the third.

Alison,
Because you are a writer you will write again and what ever you write will be magic.

I relate Allison. Since I have been involved in the creative process I have gone from one phase to another and it has dramatically altered what I thought important. Like Lori said, you are a writer, you will write. Just use what you are going through as a beacon for poetry's guidelines.

excellent 'write' containing all points well taken! ...

As I've mentioned before here in 'P.I.P.-land' by the cyber-sea, I've had an ambivalent (love/hate) relationship with poetry most of my life and have tried to quite writing several times. My best friend (sculptor) says "I can't not sculpt" ... apparently each and all of us inveterate word-painters "can't not write!" Glad to see you grace these fine blue pages with your words again!  Words are perhaps the most enduring source of true 'magic' in this lovely, but sometimes sad, 'ol world.

Your writing has always brought smiles and inspiration to me, Alison.  I'm glad to see you picking up the pen again.  You have so much light inside you, I wouldn't worry too much about the dark eclipsing you.  You willl always shine in my eyes.

Good, bad, indifferent, my friend - what you write (and I love reading you) isn't as important as just seeing - knowing you're still there, and that, quickens my heart.

have missed you (little as I've been in here myself). . .

Seeking strength to  face difficult situations

Sometimes words are my therapy, sometimes they are my guide to solutions... and sometimes they're just something I don't have time to deal with. *S* The nice thing is... they always wait, ready to welcome my return. *S*

Any word from you is welcome... and knowing you, baby steps will soon turn to leaps.

Enjoyed this... and related to it!

Hi Alison, just enjoy the words when they come and the time that you give yourself, we are all too busy to just sit and enjoy, then another 5 years have passed. Smile now, live now and have no regrets

Beloved Alison, it's a joy to read you and I certainly want to encourage you to write. Our words reflect our hearts and we change as times change, we are in constant motion and that is the adventure of life. Dare to share your emotions, for you have the gift to do so.

Love and hugs.

Alison,
It is so good to meet you here again. I hope your difficult situations are over and I am glad you are breathing more easily.
Your work will probably blossom deeper and sweeter now.
With love, Kate

psst, Alison,
*(pleading eyes and twiddling thumbs),
Patience was never my strong suit.

Just kidding there, I just wanted you to know we all miss you, but hope you are doing well.

I take in your words,
stranger that you are,
and I realize I'm merely looking
at a mirror,
although I was never
innocent; I knew the choices
I was making, each one a brick
on top of another.
I thought the words would save me
from myself, prepare me better
for the bucket list I'm filling up today,
but thoughts and words petered out
in the light of chores too heavy to leave
undone.
I am older now, too, and I
find things haven't changed at all,
even as they have, and did.
But most of all, I find, I must
think again, write again, or lose myself
again, finally running out of words,
finally running out the sands
of this hourglass.
So here I am, looking out for
strangers, looking for
myself.

Alison,
A muse does seem to come out when we are least expecting it!  Your poem reveals the dry period many artists face between times of great creativity and those not so great.  I understand perfectly!  It's good to hear you've found it again.

Since you're a dreamer, nothing can stop your imagination. There are just times to create and times to get experience and think of it, and survive it.
Nice work!
