Fair to middlin' of nowhere

A broken toy in the box
on the cusp of being sent off
for repair…

Angry at the down time

Where illness incapacitates
in idiosyncratic ways

Where normal exists
in little specks and spatters
on a battered awareness

Where oblivion awaits
in endless hours of sleep

Where in not rising
to the occasion
days waste away
disappointed and discouraged

Where recovery is measured
in little tasks and hues of mood

Where wellness is tentative
And certainly temporary

It will take someone who suffers as you do to feel the full impact of this, Lori. Still, the impact is horrendous to me anyway. Good to see you again.

Thanks Jerry- Each time is different. I'm having a "normal" day today...so far,so good.

Your opening stanza is so powerful. Trust in those specks and spatters, they can grow towards 'normality'. Temporary is the dreaded word that feeds the fear of a downward curve of the graph. That feeling of incapacitation, though seeming to be coping by others, is so devastating.  Never expect too much of yourself, and certainly never let the expectations of others deter you. Always remember that it is you, and your ability to fight it, that will win the day. And try not to be frustated by ignorance.
I hope this doesn't come across as patronising, it certainly was not meant to be.
My best wishes.

Good to hear from you! I absolutely agree with your advice. Recovery is a little bit like trying to eat an elephant... you can only take it one bite at a time. Thank you for your honest and insightful comment.

"Wellness is temporary"

Doesn't that just say it all.

Look at it this way though, Lori... at least you were broke in the box... some of us were broke in the package and never even made it that far.

Beyond the obvious "suffering" in this very well presented piece, guess I haven't been in PIP enough this year to know from where it springs, but from the replies given, I can only say - my heart to you my friend, hope you continue to improve.

Enjoyed the read and words...

Ah, you bring up a good point. I think I started out with a screw or two a little loose in the hinges. LOL
Thank you for you kind words.

J.W.
Unfortunately it really matters very little the source of "the suffering" as any random combo of things can turn into the "perfect storm".
Keeping my fingers crossed on this one,I seem to be doing so much better, I feel like I may have dodged the bullet. Thank you for commenting.

Same sentiment as jwesley; I hope this can be confronted head-on and taken into control.
“Where oblivion awaits in endless hours of sleep”… This just adds to the hurt, emotionally, and physically.  Peace to you, sweet lady!

JL,
I am doing amazingly better. I'm no longer a prisoner of sleep. I have regained some sense of humor! I found a silver lining to the dark cloud and I'm working it! Thank you for caring!
