Walls

This accursed room is all I've got,
And so I sit within it.
Another day born to a lie,
I lie here every minute.
Reflections of the hell I've wrought
Caught in visions of lament.
Another day to watch love die,
I die within the torment.

The four walls here surrounding me
Let me know I'm a loser,
Though I'm faithful to misery,
Even if I didn't choose her.
She found me in a wayward thought,
I felt the eerie essence.
A leech on me Destiny bought
With an unyielding presence.

The shadows move from wall to floor,
To wall, and then to darkness.
While I just watch, completely still,
In my empire of starkness.
And I would never ask for more,
The story's in the telling.
It's not the will, but mind that's ill,
Still, that's not what I'm selling.

No, legend lives where hope forgives
The fate you've measured to her,
As dream aspires to so inspire
What you seek to gain through her.
But transpaence and consequence
Both have part in the riddle.
The 'er doomed ride of love denied
Leaves you lost in the middle.

And so as night turns to daylight,
To find you still here sitting;
The question looms within the gloom,
What is it you're remitting?
With this accursed room, all you've got,
As you just sit within it.
Another day born to a lie,
You die here every minute.

I guess no matter where we are or how we are we still die every minute.  It's not a great place you write about so well but I'm sure it's one we're all familiar with.

Do you even know what a talented poet you are...you hit a nerve every time and make my heart ache.  I think as a writer, when one makes one feel so much and so deeply...he then defines a true poet in every sense of the word.  Your darkness truly comes to light through your words...

This is amazing Michael...beautiful bare your soul kind of writing. Your imagery is mind-blowing. I felt as if I myself was in that room...excellent!!
